How do I become a member of the Senior Citizens Center?

There is no formal membership at this point in time. If you are an adult who is 60 or older, please call or stop by the Senior Citizens Center to participate in current programs.

What senior housing is available in Whitley county?

For a list of available housing for senior citizens in Whitley county, please contact the Senior Citizens Center.

How can I reach the Social Security office?

There is no longer a Social Security Representative located in Whitley County. For more information call 248-8944.

Is there a food assistance program available for seniors?

The Senior Citizens Center provides supplemental groceries once a month to support area seniors. All individuals wishing to receive donated goods must fill out a request application. The Food Pantry operates Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00AM to 1:00PM.

Do you serve lunches at the Senior Citizens Center?

Yes. There are lunches served Monday through Friday at 11:30AM to seniors 60 and older for a $4.00 charge per meal.

Do you offer a homemaker service for senior citizens?

For Homemaker and Assistant to Homebound services at no cost, the client's needs will be evaluated by a Case Manager before services commence. For further information, please call Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana at 1-800-552-3662.

A list of homemakers for hire is also available at the Senior Citizens Center. Please contact us for further details.

How much does it cost to ride the Public Transit vans?

Rides are available to seniors 60 and older for a monetary donation. For fares on other passengers, please refer to the Public Transit page.

How can I donate to the WCCOA?

WCCOA accepts the following donations to help maintain it's not-for-profit operations:

  • Monetary Donations (See Donate page)
  • Wheelchairs, Commodes, Walkers and Canes
  • Non-Perishable Items for the Food Pantry

Are there volunteer opportunities available at the Senior Citizens Center?

Yes. The Senior Citizens Center welcomes volunteers who would like to assist with current programs, activities and daily operational needs. Volunteer opportunities includes:

  • Clerical Assistance
  • Senior Pack Helpers
  • Farm Wagon Helpers
  • Monthly Luncheon Helpers
